Human Trafficking Part Two – Unravelling the Gaslighting
These ideas are so much better Shared!!
Christianity is Not Alone
The people of this planet have been very creative in turning The Cult of the Ego into codified doctrine.
I’m still sad we never had Mallard Duck Day.
Islam
According to Learn-Islam.org, the husband must pay a dowry to the woman so she has the facade of autonomy within the confines of marriage. Furthermore, he is required to spend money on her so long as she doesn’t refuse his sexual advances.
The jury is out on whether husbands are allowed to hit their wives here. Apparently, in an old text Allah said that men have dominion over their wives, and it’s their job to punish their wives and keep them in line. The Prophet said he disagreed, but Allah’s word goes. Later they figured out that abuse was turning the women to feminists, so there was a movement to reform this. Most sources now agree that husbands should not punish their wives.
There’s a 3-stage process for such discipline. First, he is to give a gentle warning, then withhold sex, then should her misbehavior continue, he beats her.
All of the sources I looked at claim adamantly that domestic violence is not condoned within Islam. The punishment for adultery is 100 lashes for the unmarried, and lashes and stoning for the married.
In Iraq, girls can be married of at the age of 9.
Buddhism
Buddhanet says that Buddhism has historically been a bleak home for women, who spend their lives in the control of men.
In ancient India the position of women does not appear to have been a very happy one. Generally women seem to have been looked upon as being inferior to men. And, at times they were considered as being on the same level as the Sudras, the lowest of the four castes. Their freedom was extremely limited. The general view appears to be that they had to be under the care of parents in their childhood, under the protection of husbands in their youth; and in their old age they had to be under the control of their sons. Therefore, it was thought that they do not deserve any freedom. Their main role was considered to be that of housewives, managing the affairs in the house according to the wishes of their husbands.
Shinto
Historically in Shinto,
Marriages were arranged, or at least approved, by the head—the goal of marriage was to continue the family line. In-marrying spouses (usually the daughter-in-law) were expected to produce heirs, contribute to the economic endeavor of the household, and learn and transmit to the next generation the traditions of that household.
In the World War I era, they adopted an equal rights/complimenting roles design that still enforced strict gender roles.
Globally
In each case, the Cult of the Ego manifested; those who would bully others created a system of why they were on top and others were at the bottom.
Slavery is still a global problem, and it’s codified into the cultures of this world.
Thailand– Prevalence 5.7/1000 people
Saudi Arabia– Prevalence 21.3/1000 people
Turkey– Prevalence 17.6/1000 people
Russia– Prevalence 13/1000 people (Although they veered from religion to enforce communism, the Cult of the Ego still favored the greedy and dysregulated, and warped an ideology that was about the good of the whole, taking care of people, and resisting the Cult of the Ego.)

These statistics don’t include marriage.
Indigenous Peoples
For the US to have a prevalence of 3.3/1000 is super sus. It makes me wonder if this includes the Missing and Murdered Indigenous Women which have been disappearing since the Caucasian/Hispanic invasion of North America.
Globally, governments have a habit of not counting indigenous peoples as people. That’s certainly convenient.
This codification of the Cult of the Ego is so widespread, that it’s been naturalized.
“That’s just the way things are.”
“It’s always been this way.”
“It’s no better anywhere else.”
“You’re really lucky you’ve got it so good.”
The Patriarchal Bargain
This doesn’t happen without the participation of women. It’s easy to understand in extreme circumstances. When a girl has no choices and is traded as property, then it’s clear that’s an enslavement within the patriarchy.
What about Melania Trump?
She’s wealthy right? Certainly, she bosses people around. Women of that “stature” are expected to run households, coordinate servants, look pretty and be charming.
Clearly, she’s not powerless. Right?
What do you suppose would happen if she did something Dangled Frump didn’t like?
His divorce papers said that he rage raped his ex-wife Ivanka because his hair plugs hurt. Marital rape is only recognized in 20 states, despite 33% of women reporting having to have unwanted sex within their marriages.
The Patriarchal Bargain describes the process by which women can improve their personal status by contributing to the patriarchy. Access to money, power, prestige, education, science, all depend, or have depended on performance within the structure of the patriarchy.
If your fate is inescapable, then your reality becomes dependent on how well you play along.
This is especially true when failures are punished, and resources are controlled.

What do you think?
