Breaking the Cycles that Tried to Break Us

Daily Prompt 9.8.25 My Ideal Week

My Ideal Week

I’m going to try my best not to cry before the end of this post.

Today’s prompt is simple enough. I’m to describe my ideal week.

Monday

I wake up Monday morning, and the headlines highlight medical advancements that will save lives. In world news, the headlines speak of cooperation and diplomacy. There’s a feature about a human rights advocate who is doing great work to free girls from child marriages in the bible belt.

I send my child off to school without worrying that her school might be the active shooting news of the day. Her school is well funded, so I’m not worried that she’ll be dehydrated and on the verge of heat exhaustion before I can get her into the air conditioning of the car. Her school is also staffed well enough that they have proactive programming and a strong social emotional learning focus. She comes home encouraged, excited, and knowing her worth. I can’t wait for her to get home.

I spend my day researching and writing, but still have time to have lunch with my eldest and their husband. It’s hard to leave them.

I workout, shower, and spend the early afternoon preparing for workshops.

After school, I hang out with my daughter while she does her homework. We make an early dinner together, and head to the workshop, where we absolutely smash the Cult of the Ego.

We come home, not at all worried that the world is on fire, and settle into our self-care routines. Our kitties accompany us to listen as I read out loud before we snuggle in.

Tuesday

I peruse the headlines over coffee. There are no attacks on human rights. People retain the right to make choices over their own bodies. It’s not a subject of debate. Today’s news is full of sustainability initiatives that are being funded and enacted.

Media is filled with people who don’t look like me, enhancing the magic and flavor of our world with diversity. There is evidence of human beings caring for human beings all around me.

Congress passes the Anti-Billionaire Act which prohibits the existence of billionaires, taxing all monies in excess of $1B for any individual or family enterprise. The oligarchy is charged with war crimes and imprisoned. All funds belonging to those found guilty of acts against humanity are redistributed into social and sustainability programs.

I teach 2 workshops in the morning, and spend the afternoon writing. We spend our evening all hanging out as a family.

Wednesday

Todays headlines are all abuzz with climate change initiatives, many of which are honoring indigenous ways of knowing.

I sit on a panel discussion about cycle breaking and connect people with resources and guides.

We spend the evening at an open mic downtown.

Thursday

Florida can say “Gay.” The Supreme Court rules that parents blocking their children from gender affirming care are guilty of abuse. Intentional deadnaming/misgendering are cause to remove a child from the home for their mental wellbeing. Parents are supported with education and resources. Children removed from a home are cared for, valued, and loved. It is illegal for anyone to interfere with an individual’s right to pee.

I host three sessions of People Healing People Peer Support for Trauma Recovery.

I end the day with the kids having a picnic.

Friday

We defund the Police, and finally pass gun control. I spend the morning volunteering at my daughter’s school, and the afternoon catching up with friends.

Friday night is spent playing Dungeons and Dragons as a family.

Saturday
Christianity is finally labelled as a cult. Churches are no longer tax exempt. It becomes super taboo to be a Christian Fundamentalist or White Nationalist.

We spend the afternoon on meal prep.

Sunday

I’ll have a Coke then.
