Today’s question asks what career path I would choose if I could change it.
I think this question assumes that a person grows up, chooses one career, then retires. Guess I did that all wrong.
I’ve been:
- Retail Associate
- Food Service Worker (Fast Food/Deli)
- Retail Department Supervisor
- Server
- Dishwasher
- Farmhand
- CNA
- Security Guard
- Construction Worker (Flagger)
- Student
- Work Study English
- Work Study Geology
- Lecturer
- Traditional Surrogate
- Researcher
- News Reporter
- News Editor
- Fast Food General Manager
- Housekeeper
- Assisted Living Specialist
- Cannabis Retail (Colorado)
- I created Together (a game that never went anywhere)
- I had also been working on an idea called CannaCompanions to guide people through cannabis retail, but we got to the point that we would need to get business licensing etc. my partner put on the brakes.
- I had also been working on a food truck idea that he was really excited about until it got to that point as well.
After ALL of that I was working as a dishwasher/cook again when Covid hit, so I used that opportunity to try to launch ANY other career.
- Poetry
- Talent Manager – partner – Pay $0
- I produced an online show that revolved around my partner – Pay $0
- Cement art – Pay $0 (and I got the bonus of watching people bury items I’d gifted them in planters, or throw fountains away entirely, but the kicker came when we found out that we had to move, and all of these cement items had to be moved too.)
- LoveGrams – Poetry/Songs by commission. I did the words and my partner did the music when needed. – Pay $0 because it all went to my partner.
- Dapkusen Homeschool – I was developing learning tools and hoped to share them to get paid
- Online Public Speaker – I booked one speaking gig online and then they couldn’t help me any more unless I spent money on a premium package – My partner did not approve of the expenditure. – Pay $100
- Toxicity Toolkit – Cost years of social punishment
- Virtual Holiday Visits – Because my partner wanted to be Santa but he wouldn’t let us go actually connect with people to move it along and it fizzled. I worked really hard on that. Pay~$50
Then we had to move again so I went back to work as a dishwasher but ANNIE VICK doesn’t pay her employees, so I had to find another job and I worked as a phone CSR for a pest control company.
My pain became so bad I couldn’t do that job any more and I applied for disability, which they denied twice.
I made this blog hoping it might make a career out of my life at last. Pay ~$40 Cost~$200
I don’t think this question is made for me. The world doesn’t pay for whatever this is.

What do you think?
