It’s Ok- And it’s not
I have been on the inside of grieving for most of my life. I’ve seen it’s depths, and it’s horrors. I’ve felt it’s emptiness and it’s anguish.
I asked myself as an adult what I wish someone had told me after my dad died. I wondered what it would sound like if someone had held the space for me that I needed.
It’s Ok by Protyus A. Gendher
It’s Ok to Be Ok
It’s ok to be ok.
It’s ok to wake up and breathe.
It’s ok to think of yourself,
While others impose on your grief.
It’s ok to put it behind you.
It’s ok to dig it back up.
It’s ok to sort through it again and again,
Until you feel you’ve been hit by a truck.
It’s ok to avoid what you need to.
It’s ok to just be how you are.
It’s ok to get distracted,
With Facebook, work, and stars.
It’s ok to just be sad,
Without having to cheer up,
And perform for everyone else,
When you’re wanting to give up.
It’s ok to have good days.
It’s ok to feel alive.
It’s ok to have adventures.
It’s ok for you to thrive.
It’s ok to not know how to feel.
It’s ok that grief is ever changing.
It’s ok to focus on what you need,
As your life is rearranging.
It’s ok not to be ok.
It’s ok to be ok too.
Take as long as you need.
Your grief is up to you.
