The Rush to watch Rush
My second sophomore year, Grandma would take me to school, but much later than Grandpa had. I still woke up at the same time, so I’d head down the street and hang out with Grandma before school.
I’d get to her house, and she would hand me a VHS tape, which had our soap on it from the day before, as well as yesterday’s episode of Rush Limbaugh.
My whole family fell in love with Rush Limbaugh in the 90s. We liked his brazen tones and his rhetoric. We loved that he trashed Clinton, and created SCRIPTs for us to perform in trashing Clinton as well.
I was really good at these SCRIPTs, and they gave me a little bit of clout in the family. They also conditioned me.
IMDB has a list of Rush Limbaugh quotes. Here are some doozies that I used to be rewarded for repeating.

I showed up every morning to receive his doctrine of hate against all minorities. I internalized his rhetoric about feminism.
I really began to focus on being woman enough without being “that kind of woman,” whatever that means. I failed a lot.
