And a great big jerk was he
He said that the deaths caused by guns on our streets
Are just the price of liberty

I wonder if he thought that he was immune?
Like it couldn’t happen if he was in the room…
That the lives being lost were disposable like mine,

And when WE die, they don’t think it’s a crime.


Never mind that the Second Amendment is this constitutional right
That is really a privilege in the function of being WHITE
Because, although my dad was a gunsmith, and I’ve been hands-on for a chunk of my life
I’ve never walked into a gun store and seen people of color welcomed inside.
When the hand that pulls the trigger is attached to a minority life
Suddenly, this sacred right becomes a crime
But when a privileged white boy shoots up a school it’s fine?

I do not understand how you could fail to see the line

When asked to account for mass shooting deaths,
He answered with conjecture, without regard for the lives wrecked
Without numbers or knowledge or a single fact
Blaming trans people, and minorities, when they’re already under attack.

I can’t help but notice you’re fine with that, but clutch your pearls when we fight back.

To hell with that.

Do you hear how they cheer? Do you hear how they clap?
I value the lives on the other side of that

The world is a little bit safer tonight
As one fewer bigot will hold a microphone and incite a riot
He behaved without regard for the damage he was doing
And there’s never accountability for the hate the right keeps spewing
Instead let’s blame the victims for being relieved at this removing.

    You’re right about one thing: lives are not disposable. But let’s be clear—painting the Second Amendment as nothing more than a “white privilege pass” erases a whole lot of reality. The right to bear arms is not written for one race, one gender, or one social class. It’s enshrined for every citizen. Period. Do injustices happen? Absolutely. Does racism exist? Yes. But that doesn’t mean the Constitution itself is racist, or that responsible gun ownership is some kind of exclusive club.

    And this idea that only “privileged white boys” are excused while everyone else is punished? That’s a convenient narrative, but not a full truth. The justice system has flaws—sometimes massive ones—but plenty of white perpetrators have been locked up for life or put to death. Mass shooters of all backgrounds are vilified. Pretending otherwise is selective outrage.

    Blaming guns—or the race of the gun owner—distracts from the real issue: the person pulling the trigger. Evil doesn’t discriminate, and neither should accountability. Turning every shooting into a racial indictment instead of addressing the human choices behind it solves nothing.

    As for the claim that gun shops don’t welcome people of color—have you actually tested that across the board? Or are you projecting a feeling into a fact? In 2020 and beyond, minority gun ownership skyrocketed. Black Americans, Hispanic Americans, Asian Americans—all bought firearms in record numbers. Why? Because they knew the right was theirs, too. And they exercised it.

    What really jumps out, though, is the cheering for someone’s removal from a microphone—essentially celebrating censorship. That’s where the mask slips. If free speech only applies to views you like, it’s not free speech at all. The answer to bad speech is better speech—not silencing your opposition.

    So no—being relieved at “one fewer bigot” doesn’t make the world safer. It makes it smaller, weaker, less free. The real strength is standing up to bad ideas with better ones, not trying to erase voices you don’t want to hear.

      When the second amendment was written, black people only counted as 3/5 of a person for census purposes only. Women did not have any political presence as people afforded rights.

      This is gaslighting. Despite later amendments to MAKE the rest of us get to be people too, it has never actually reached that point.

      THAT’S the problem. We’re taught that we the people means ALL of the people, but legally and socially it never has.

        Oh sure, let’s toss the Second Amendment in the trash because society wasn’t perfect in 1789. While we’re at it, let’s cancel electricity too, since women couldn’t vote when Edison was tinkering with light bulbs. Clearly, the solution to history being messy is to pretend none of it counts.

        Funny thing about calling out fallacies—you can end up committing them yourself. Saying someone is “just seeing how many fallacies they can fit into one response” is a textbook false dilemma, because it pretends the only choices are “pure logic” or “all fallacy.” It edges into inconsistency, too, since the accuser insists on strict reasoning while loosely tossing labels without evidence. The “ought-is” sneaks in when they imply that because arguments ought to be perfectly logical, any flaw automatically proves bad faith. And ironically, shouting “straw person” without actually showing how the argument was distorted risks being a straw person in itself. In other words, the rebuttal falls into the same traps it’s trying to mock—proof that just dropping links to fallacy definitions isn’t the same as making a coherent case.
